  • Pretoria - A second prison warder will be added to the accused's list on Monday in connection with the death of two prison officials and two inmates in a foiled escape bid from Pretoria C-Max this month.

Prosecutor Christine Mosidi told reporters outside the Pretoria district court that the second C-Max warder would now be accused number two.

His name was not released as he was still to appear in court.

He faces four provisional charges of murder with colleague, Mlungusi Ismael Msibi.

C-Max prison head Sam Gomba and acting area co-ordinator Dan Ndinisa were shot dead in an escape bid by five inmates from the prison on November 6. Two of the prisoners, realising their bid for freedom was doomed, then committed suicide.

The warder, who is to be added to the accused's list, was arrested last Friday. Msibi was arrested on November 8 - two days after the C-Max killing.
