    • Port Elizabeth - A man will appear in court in Alexandria, near Port Elizabeth, on Tuesday in connection with perlemoen (abalone) worth R1.5m.

    The 8 842 perlemoen were found in his Mercedes-Benz minibus in a routine search by traffic officers at a weighbridge at Kinkelbos police station at 17:20 on Monday, said police spokesperson Superintendent Johann van Greunen.

    He said the perlemoen had since been taken to the sea fisheries department.
