Kepton Park - A Kempton Park man hanged himself in his bathroom after fatally stabbing his wife and their four-year-old son, North Rand police Superintendent Eugene Opperman said on Saturday.

The three bodies were found on Saturday by a relative who, unable to contact the family telephonically since Thursday, decided to visit them at their home in Birch Acres instead.

Preliminary investigations suggested that the 31-year-old man and his 30-year-old wife were experiencing ongoing marital problems, said Opperman, adding that police suspected the killings took place either on Thursday or Friday.

The said the names of the couple and their son would be withheld until their next-of-kin were notified.
