Johannesburg - A 59-year-old British citizen was arrested during a R450 000 cocaine bust at the Johannesburg International Airport on Wednesday, North Rand police said.

Superintendent Eugene Opperman said police were monitoring a flight from Sao Paulo in Brazil when the incident happened.

As they were searching the man's luggage, they found 1kg of cocaine which they valued at R450 000.

He was arrested and will appear in the Kempton magistrate's court on Thursday.
