Passenger hails hijacked taxi

Cape Town - Two taxi passengers and a driver were seriously injured in a drive-by shooting in Brackenfell near Kuilsrivier on Sunday morning, Cape Town police said.

Superintendent Billy Jones said unidentified gunmen opened fire on the taxi carrying eight passengers along Old Paarl Road around 07:15.

"The taxi was carrying nine passengers including the driver when it was attacked by four men in a white Toyota Corolla which had been following the taxi," he said.

"The men then started firing shots at the taxi, injuring the driver and two female passengers seriously. They were taken to Tygerberg Hospital."

He said the other passengers sustained less serious injuries.

A case of attempted murder was opened.
