People warned about fake cops

East London - People are warned to be on a lookout for bogus police officers operating in Vincent Park, East London, said Eastern Cape police on Tuesday.
Inspector Stephen Marais said three men would approach their victim, one walking in front and dropping a money bag.
A second thief would pick it up and a third would appear, pretending to be a police officer, flashing a fake police identity card.
He would then accuse the two men and the victim of having stolen money.
He would take the victim's belongings, promising to return them, but actually making off with them.
Anyone with information had been asked to phone the police on 043 726 8585.
