Johannesburg - Seventy-two illegal immigrants were arrested and 111 unroadworthy taxis impounded in a crime operation in Roodepoort on Johannesburg's West Rand on Friday.
Metro police spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said police also arrested a drunken taxi driver during the operation on Hendrik Potgieter road.
Another driver was arrested for being in possession of a stolen taxi.
Minnaar said the operation formed part of Operation Token Days, in which 833 unroadworthy taxis had already been impounded.
