Johannesburg - A Midrand traffic court prosecutor is in a stable condition after being shot during a hijacking in Randburg, said Johannesburg metro police on Monday.

Wayne Minnaar of metro police said Phiros Silinda had gone to pick up his children from a concert in Rabie Ridge on Saturday night when he was hijacked at a stop sign.

"The two suspects shot him on his left arm and the left side of his chest.

"The bullet pierced his lung, missed his heart and exited on the other side," said Minnaar.

He said Silinda's BMW had been found abandoned in Tembisa.

No arrests had been made.
