Cape Town - Knife-wielding robbers fatally stabbed a six-month-old baby in an attack on a home in Rondebosch East on Wednesday, police said.

Captain Elliot Sinyangana said the robbers conned their way on to the property in Rondeboch East by posing as delivery men.

Holding the domestic worker and a visitor to the house at knife-point, three of the robbers forced them into a bathroom. The fourth robber grabbed the baby girl.

They fled with a locked safe taken from the house.

Later managing to free themselves, the domestic worker and visitor found the baby in a bedroom, fatally stabbed in her neck.

Sinyangana appealed to anyone able to help police with information about the robbery to contact Detective Inspector Esmerald Bailey on 021 467 6006, or Crime Stop, on 08600 10111. Identikits of the robbers were being compiled, he said.
