  • Cape Town - A handful of placard-bearing protesters gathered in front of the Wynberg magistrate's court on Thursday morning to protest against a bail application by an alleged baby killer.

Dina Rodriguez is scheduled to appear in connection with the death of six-month-old Jordon Leigh Norton.

"It is apparent that this Dina Rodriguez planned the murder with the precision of a psychopath," said the baby's grandaunt Renee Otmar.

Otmar said the family did not know what else Rodriguez was capable of, should she be released.

"The family is vulnerable... we are devastated enough. She is clearly a dangerous woman."

Her sentiments were echoed by Beulah Norton, another grandaunt, who said bail would jeopardise the entire investigation.

"There will be contact between her and the other accused."

In a headline grabbing incident about two weeks ago, baby Norton had her throat slit when four men barged into her grandparent's Rondebosch East home under the false pretence of delivering a parcel.

Outside the court family and friends held placards which read: "No bail" and "Little angel taken away, no bail to baby killer". Most placards had cherubic pictures of the baby.
