Johannesburg - The toilets in the SABC's building in Johannesburg will be renovated at a cost of R11m.
"Although a lot of money is involved, this doesn't mean we will have taps of solid gold in our toilets," said the SABC's Lesego Mncwango, tongue-in-cheek, on Wednesday.
"The building is pretty old and so are the toilet facilities. It is time for renewal, especially for this.
"In addition, the renovations are aimed specifically at making the toilets accessible to people with disabilities," he said.
She confirmed that the SABC would have to fork out R11m for the toilet renovations at the 31-storey building in Auckland Park.
She pointed out that the toilets would be renovated in stages. This was a long-term project for which the corporation had budgeted in the next 10 years.
