Johannesburg - About 1.2 million candidates, including an 84-year-old pupil from Johannesburg, will sit for their national matric exams from Monday.
This year, the education department has put in tight measures to ensure that the exams are not compromised in any manner.
These include the appointment of independent chief invigilators to oversee exams at schools in Mpumalanga where cheating took place last year.
The final exam paper will be written on November 23.
