Bethlehem - A Harrismith policeman has turned himself in after allegedly shooting dead a motorist.
Police spokesperon Motarafi Ntepe says the motorist, Tlodi Motaung, had apparently asked the 36-year-old policeman to park his car "properly" during the altercation in Tholong, near Kestell.
Ntepe says Motaung got out of his car and confronted the policeman.
The policeman, who was off duty, allegedly pulled out his service pistol and shot Motaung once in his chest.
The inspector then drove to the nearest police station, where he reported the shooting and handed himself over.
Motaung was found dead at the scene, lying in a pool of blood with a single used cartridge next to his body.
The policeman would appear in the Kestell magistrate's court on Monday, said Ntepe.
