Bushbuckridge - A couple appeared briefly in court on Tuesday in connection with the murder of the woman's teenaged brother, who was found butchered and stuffed into an unused deep freezer.
Monica Seerane, 23, and Patrick Sihlangu, 28, weren't asked to plead to murder with aggravating circumstances when they appeared in Bushbuckridge magistrate's court.
They were both remanded in custody pending their next court appearance on November 18 when they will be expected to make a formal bail application.
Neighbours last saw Tshepo Seerane, 18, alive in Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga on August 21 before they noticed a bad smell coming from his house about seven days later.
They called Bushbuckridge police who broke into the house and found his body in an unused deep freezer. He had been hacked on the head.
His sister used to stay with him in the house while their parents worked in Gauteng and sent money home for food.
It's believed he may have been killed over the money.
