Ca[pe Town - A 20-year-old who was apparently kidnapped on Monday was found in the early hours of Wednesday, said Western Cape police.
The man, who was apparently kidnapped by three gunmen in Crawford, Lansdowne, about 14:00 on Monday, was found at a Somerset Mall construction site about 01:30 on Wednesday, said inspector Bernadine Steyn.
The boy apparently fainted when he was questioned by police about the alleged kidnapping, said Steyn.
"He was taken to a hospital for medical examination and he is under observation," she said.
Certain members of the young man's family and an acquaintance claimed he was never kidnapped, but was with them during this period, said Steyn.
Steyn said that on Monday the youth was walking from his home to a school in Rondebosch to fetch his younger brother when he was taken against his will.
She said armed men pulled up alongside the youth while he was walking on St Kilda Road in Crawford, held him at gunpoint and forced him into a Mercedes-Benz car.
Steyn said the motive for the alleged kidnapping was unknown.
