Johannesburg - Police arrested two men for their alleged involvement in the mutilation of two people in Makonde last month, Limpopo police said on Sunday.
Spokesperson Ailwei Mushavhanamadi said a man and a woman were found lying in a bush in October.
"The man was chopped with an axe on the head, his tongue and his penis cut off. The woman, who was still alive, also had her lower and upper limbs chopped," Mushavhanamadi said.
He said the men, arrested on Saturday, were found in possession of a cellphone and clothes belonging to the deceased.
Police also found the private parts of the deceased hanging from a tree.
Mushavhanamadi said the woman was in a serious condition in hospital.
The men were expected to appear in the Thohoyandou magistrate's court on Monday.
