Johannesburg - A 38-year-old pastor accused of raping a 16-year-old girl appeared briefly in the Randburg magistrate's court on Thursday, West Rand police said.

Captain Paula Nothnagel said the case was postponed until January 17.

The pastor took the girl to his home in Northriding, where he demanded sex.

"She declined and he overpowered and raped her. Then she ran to the toilet and escaped through the window.

"She ran towards the complex's exit, and alerted the security guard on duty. A passerby who also saw the girl contacted the police," Nothnagel said.
