Drug dealer arrested in Hillbrow

Johannesburg - A Nigerian drug dealer was arrested in a sting operation on Wednesday, said Hillbrow police spokesperson Kriban Naidoo.
According to Naidoo, a drug user who used R1 600 worth of cocaine was kidnapped and had his vehicle confiscated after he could not pay for the drugs he used.
Police confirmed on Thursday that the drug dealer placed a call to the father of the drug user, asking for a ransom for the safety of his son.
Naidoo said the father approached the police.
"We arranged a time and drop-off point with the Nigerian and arrested him shortly after the exchange."
Naidoo added that a trend with drug dealers was to kidnap and confiscate personal possessions from those who could not pay for the drugs they used.
"We plead with the public to stay away from drugs because the dangers exceed addiction. There is a danger of being kidnapped and killed."
