Johannesburg - An Alexandra pastor charged with rape, was granted bail of R10 000 in Randburg magistrate's court on Monday, police said.

Captain Paula Nothnagel said the case was postponed to January 26 for further investigation.

The pastor was arrested on January 3 at his home in Northriding, Honeydew for allegedly raping a 16-year-old.

He allegedly took the young woman to his home, demanded sex with her, and forced her to do so when she refused.

Nothnagel said she escaped through a toilet window.

"She ran towards the complex's exit, and alerted the security guard on duty. A passerby who also saw the girl contacted the police."
