  • Johannesburg - A woman has been arrested in Atteridgeville after she was found with a baby reported kidnapped in Pretoria.

Police spokesperson inspector Katlego Mogale said the woman, who had apparently befriended two-month old Temoso Mokotedi's mother on a bus before she disappeared with him, was arrested on Saturday.

She will appear in the Pretoria magistrate's court on Monday, charged with kidnapping.

Mphote has been reunited with his 26-year-old mother.

Mogale said the woman, in her late 20s, took the child to her mother-in-law in Atteridgeville after she had supposedly taken him on Thursday.

She said the mother-in-law became suspicious when the woman tried to breastfeed the baby and alerted the neighbours, who called the police.
