Bogus traffic cops hijack truck
24/03/2006 10:38  - (SA)

Johannesburg - A truck was hijacked outside Leslie in Mpumalanga by two men and a woman dressed as traffic officers on Thursday, police said.

Superintendent Abie Khoabane said on Friday the brand new truck was pulled off the road by a white Toyota sedan with blue lights on its roof.

The "traffic officers" asked to see the driver's licence. They then held him at gunpoint before driving off in his truck.

The man was left in nearby mielie fields.

Khoabane warned motorists to be on the lookout for the fake traffic police.
