Johannesburg - Two men driving a hijacked Land Rover were arrested in Phomolong, northeast of Johannesburg on Friday morning, police said.
Patrolling police felt that the occupants of the Land Rover were looking nervous so pulled them over, said spokesperson Cynthia Kleinhans.
As they were pulled over, they jumped out and one drew firearm and pointed it at the police.
He was shot in the leg and disarmed by a policeman. Police discovered that the vehicle had been hijacked earlier in Boksburg.
The two were arrested and are expected to appear in Kempton Park magistrate's court on Monday.
