Johannesburg - Three men were arrested at Orange Farm, south of Johannesburg, for allegedly hijacking a car in Ivory Park, north east of the city, police said on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson Captain William Mcera said a tracker device installed on the hijacked Toyota Venture led police to Orange Farm, where the men were arrested.
"The Venture was hijacked on Friday and we managed to trace it with the help of its tracker device.
"At the time of arrest, the men were found in possession of four hand pistols and 22 rounds of live ammunition," Mcera said.
One of the firearms may be a police weapon.
The three men aged between 23 and 30, are expected to appear in the Germiston magistrate's court on Friday.
They face charges of car hijacking and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
