Nelspruit - A desperate man who wanted muti from a sangoma lost his temper when he was told to come back the next day because it was too late to serve him.
He is alleged to have shot the sangoma, and when she came out of hospital three days later, it is claimed he shot and killed her, shot her son and a friend.
Vusi Sineth Metane, 27, of Mariti near Hazyview appeared in connection with the case on Monday.
He pleaded not guilty in the Nelspruit circuit of Pretoria High Court.
He is charged with one murder, three attempted murders, housebreaking with intent to murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Shot four times
The sangoma, Assah Norah Sifundza of Salubindza near White River, was first shot about 20:00 on November 20.
Three days later, on November 23, a man forced his way into her sitting room, where she, her son, Zakhele, and a friend, Simon Hluphile Ndlovu, were sitting.
The gunman opened fire, hitting Sifundza and her son.
Sifundza was shot four times in the chest and arm and died immediately.
Her son survived, and Ndlovu was injured despite ducking behind a low wall in the room.
The case continues.
