Oudtshoorn - Five men were arrested on Sunday morning in connection with the rape of a 21-year-old woman in Bridgton, Oudtshoorn, said Southern Cape police.

All five, believed to be close relatives, were arrested in their homes, said police spokesperson Ntobeko Mangqwengqwe.

The men allegedly raped the woman in a hut behind a house on 14th avenue in Bridgton on Friday night.

"It is alleged the victim was under the influence of alcohol during the incident."

They would appear in Oudtshoorn magistrate's court on Monday, he said.
