17/06/2006 09:45 - (SA)
Johannesburg - Eastern Cape police have re-arrested two "dangerous" prisoners who escaped from the Middeldrift prison last week, spokesman Superintendent Mzukisi Fatyela said on Saturday.
Fatyela said the men - Pakamisa Myoli, 41, and Thanduxolo Jayiya, 32 - were caught at 06:00 in a car driving towards Port Elizabeth. The driver of the car was also arrested.
"We are going to check if they committed no other crimes while they were outside," said Fatyela.
He also said two firearms were recovered and all three men would appear in court on Monday.
The men escaped from the maximum-security prison after holding a warder hostage at gun-point and stealing his keys on June 6.
They were both serving life terms for murder and other crimes.
