Johannesburg - A 36-year-old man wanted in Gauteng in connection with at least 22 hijackings was arrested in Tsakane on the North Rand on Sunday, police said.
Shaun Jacobs was arrested on Sunday morning when police found him hiding in a car that had been hijacked in Boksburg, said superintendent Eugene Opperman of North Rand police.
He said Jacobs also was wanted in connection with several armed robberies.
He is expected to appear in Benoni magistrate's court on Monday.
Opperman said North Rand police also arrested 350 people in weekend crime operations that began on Friday night.
Six vehicles seized
Those held had been arrested in connection with crimes ranging from murder and rape to hijacking and robbery.
Eight firearms, six hijacked or stolen vehicles and stolen electronic and household goods valued at about R500 000 were seized during the operation.
Those arrested during the operation would appear in various courts on the North Rand soon, said Opperman.
