'Hijack' leads to crash in Dbn

Johannesburg - Five people were seriously injured when a minibus taxi smashed into a robot after an attempted hijacking in central Durban on Thursday, paramedics Netcare said.
Spokesperson Chris Botha said two armed men tried to hijack the vehicle, carrying 10 passengers, on the Corner of Moore and Williams Roads.
According to the driver one of the hijackers got into his taxi and pulled out a gun, said Botha.
The driver sped off and the hijacker, realising the driver wasn't stopping, jumped out. The driver lost control of his vehicle and it collided with traffic lights at high speed.
"The driver, aged about 20, was seriously injured and paramedics had use the jaws of life to get him out of the wreckage."
Four passenger were also seriously injured, with the other six sustaining minor injuries.
They were taken to Addington and King Edward hospitals.
