Port Elizabeth - An armed gang hijacked a man's car and promised to leave it at a garage after they had used it for a robbery - but when the owner looked for the car later, it was nowhere to be found.
The men didn't just "borrow" the car from Lance Jacobs of Bloemendal.
They told him exactly where they were going with his car - and where he could fetch his vehicle after their robbery.
Jacobs said he was totally taken aback when three armed robbers accosted him in his driveway.
He had got into his car about 21:00 to leave for work at Volkswagen in Uitenhage, when the men, carrying firearms, told him to move to the passenger seat.
Jacobs said: "They assured me they weren't going to hurt me."
They told him they needed his car for a robbery and afterwards would leave it at a Shell garage in Western Road, Central.
They dropped Jacobs at Van der Kempskloof in Bethelsdorp, not far from Bloemendal.
He walked home from there.
Now all he wants to know is where his car is...
The car, a silver 2005 Jetta, licence number DJH 085 EC, is still missing.
