Bloodbath 7 appear handcuffed
31/08/2006 16:02 - (SA)
Johannesburg - The case of seven of the 16 people accused of killing four police officers in Jeppestown in July was postponed in the Roodepoort magistrate's court on Thursday.
They are scheduled to appear again on September 13, as one of the defence attorneys had to leave early and the magistrate needed further evidence.
The other nine cancelled their bail application on August 21.
All 16 would appear together on October 16.
The seven who appeared on Thursday shuffled sideways into the dock, as they were handcuffed to one another.
Two were on crutches and one's left hand was bandaged.
Four police officers and eight suspected robbers were killed in the bloody shootout in Jeppestown.
The suspects have been charged with murder, attempted murder, armed robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms.
