Johannesburg - Two men who allegedly raped two French exchange student have been arrested, said Free State police on Sunday.
Superintendent Motarafi Ntepe said the female students were sleeping at a camp site next to the Wilge River at Frankfort when they were raped by two of three attackers in December last year.
They also had two cellphones stolen.
The police arrested two suspects on Saturday, and a third suspect was arrested on Tuesday last week in the Meyerton area, said Ntepe.
Left notes for cops
The students were hosted by the University of Cape Town and were in the Free State to conduct research on the environment at the river.
One of the suspects left notes to police officers stating "You will not get me" at his other crime scenes, said Ntepe.
The suspects are facing 15 other charges of armed robbery, housebreaking, and rape, said Ntepe.
