Johannesburg - Pretoria police on Monday arrested five suspects in connection with a series of car hijackings in Centurion.
"[We] confiscated seven vehicles from the security [townhouse] complex where the suspects lived," said police spokesperson Constable Brenda Kgafela.
Two Caravels hijacked in Mamelodi during a jazz festival, a Honda hijacked in Brooklyn, an Opel Astra hijacked in Sandton, an Uno, a Mini Cooper and a BMW were found.
The suspects are aged between 25 and 35. One is from Mamelodi and the other four from Tzaneen in Limpopo.
Kgafela said police are investigating whether the men owned the complex or whether they were renting it.
"If we find that they own it, the complex will be forfeited."
The arrests come after police received information from the anti-hijack task force.
The suspects are likely to appear in the Pretoria magistrate's court on Tuesday.
