Johannesburg - A rapist whose victim bit off the tip of his tongue was sentenced to eight years' in prison by the Excelsior magistrate's court on Tuesday, eastern Free State police said.
Tsoenyane Petrus Mereko, 24, was found guilty of housebreaking with the intention to rape, said Superintendent Motarafi Ntepe.
His 32-year-old victim took the piece of flesh to the police after biting it off when Mereko forced his tongue into her mouth in an attempt to kiss her while raping her in her home in Koma Village, Mahlatswetsa, in April.
He had broken open a locked door to gain entry to the house, said Ntepe.
The rapist fled after he was bitten, but was arrested the next day with the help of the public.
