Matwabeng - A elderly woman paid with her tongue when she pushed away an intruder who had overpowered her at her house.

Superintendent Motarafi Ntepe said Mansu Elisa Letseka, 70, of 2640 Zone 3 was attacked in her house on Saturday night.

Ntepe said: "She was asleep and just heard someone coming in the front door.

"The next minute, she felt someone slapping her face," said Ntepe.

She said a man apparently had come and sat on top of Letseka in her bed.

"When she shoved him off, he stood up and pinched her tongue with an unknown object," said Ntepe.

When paramedics arrived at the house, they found a piece of her tongue lying on the bed.

"Letsake was rushed to hospital, but the tongue could not be reattached."

No one has been arrested yet.
