Johannesburg - Two armed robbers were arrested after they hijacked a car in Linbro Business Park, east of Johannesburg, said police on Wednesday.
Captain Schalk Bornman said the two approached Lizette Wilson at 08:00 as she arrived at her workplace on the corner of Marlboro and Galaxy Street.
The robbers, aged 25 and 18, pulled Wilson out of her Mini Cooper and drove away in it.
Lizette's husband, Derrick and her brother-in-law, Deon Groenewald, saw the hijacking and followed the men to Marlboro Drive where a shooting ensued in which both were wounded.
The 18-year-old had wounds to his right leg and left arm and the 25-year-old was shot in the chest.
"Both men were apprehended by Wilson and Groenewald and were handed to the police."
Police confiscated two 9mm pistols with the serial numbers filed off. The stolen car was recovered.
Suspects expected to appear
"The two men were taken to hospital under police guard and will be charged with car-jacking."
Lizette and Derrick Wilson and Groenewald were not injured in the incident.
Area commissioner for Johannesburg, assistant commissioner Oswald Reddy congratulated Wilson and Groenewald for their immediate reaction and apprehension of the robbers.
"The suspects are expected to appear in Johannesburg magistrate's court as soon as they are discharged," said Bornman.
