  • Pretoria - Pretoria police have arrested 11 men - including three Zimbabweans - for car theft and hijacking, they said on Friday.

Inspector Katlego Mogale said police acting on a tip-off stopped a suspected stolen truck on the N1 in Sinoville on Thursday night.

"The truck was carrying a cargo of cigarettes destined for a warehouse in Johannesburg. Five suspects, including three Zimbabweans, were arrested."

In a second incident, six men were arrested in Sunnyside after police recovered a stolen Mercedes-Benz and a Volkswagen Polo Playa, said Mogale.

"The Mercedes was stolen in Norkem Park in July last year. The Polo was stolen in Wierdabrug last week Tuesday."

She urged anyone with information on stolen cars and hijackings to contact Superintendent Deon Snyders on 082-778-9425.
