Johannesburg - A man believed to be the mastermind behind truck hijackings in Lesli, Mpumalanga was arrested on Saturday.
The arrest follows a tip-off that he ran a chop shop from his house, Ekurhuleni metro police said.
On arrival at the 35-year-old's house in Katlehong, police recovered four VW GTI Golf's whose engines had been tampered with, said inspector Jimmy Maboko.
"Two silver Golfs, a red and a white one were found on the man's property."
He said the man was handed over to the serious and violent crime's unit in Mpumalanga.
The man is expected to appear in the Lesli magistrate's court on Monday.
"The arrest formed part of our ongoing operation Impi Yethu. It was carried out by the SWAT unit of the Ekurhuleni metro police," Maboko said.
