Cape Town - An 18-year-old youth was shot dead in a drive-by shooting outside a school in Kensington on Tuesday afternoon, said Western Cape police.

Superintendent Billy Jones said Magmoed Stanbull of Factreton was shot about 15:00 at the corner of Grammat Street and Ninth Avenue, while waiting for a friend who was at the school there. Stanbull was not a pupil at the school.

"Two male occupants in a VW Golf drove past and fired three shots at him. The had one bullet wound to his chest and died outside the school," said Jones.

He said the shooting appeared to be gang-related and detectives had identified possible suspects.
