Johannesburg - Three Gauteng golfers found themselves way out in the rough when they were accosted by two robbers who "appeared from the bush".
They were told: "Put down your putters and lie on the ground"
The East Rand players were at Alberton's Reading golf course, when they were accosted.
Errol Armstrong, a 68-year-old accountant, and his two partners were on the green at the third hole when a robber "suddenly walked out of the bush".
Armstrong said: "He walked past us casually, then turned and took a pistol out of his shirt."
Just strolled off after robbery
Another robber materialised and the players were ordered to lie down.
They told us to give them our watches and wallets. They also demanded our cellphones, but we explained that we were not allowed to carry cellphones while playing.
One robber took an elderly player's cap, put it on his head, and they strolled off.
The club management could not be reached for comment.
