Johannesburg - Four men were arrested on Monday morning, minutes before they allegedly would have robbed the TAB in the Benoni city centre, North Rand police said.

Superintendent Eugene Opperman said detectives from the Benoni crime intelligence unit received information early on Monday morning that the TAB was to be robbed.

The detectives watched the place from around 08:00 and saw the vehicle that had been described to them.

When the men got out of the vehicle and walked towards the TAB, police moved in and arrested them.

Two stolen firearms were found in their possession.

The men would appear in the Benoni magistrate's court on Wednesday.
