Still fighting
Desmond Tutu is showing no signs of slowing down as he turns 77, and is still an advocate for justice.

Musina - A 15-year-old boy who attends "a good Afrikaans school" has been arrested for the alleged rape of a 19-month-old baby girl.

The girl is in a serious condition in a Polokwane hospital.

A police source said the toddler was playing in the street in front of her parents' house in Musina when the boy came to fetch her "to go and play".

He and the child were gone for quite a long time.

When the boy brought the baby girl back, her parents saw she was bleeding. They immediately called the police's family violence and sexual crimes unit in Polokwane.

The boy was arrested and has appeared in court in Musina on a rape charge, to which he has not yet pleaded.

Because he is a minor he was released into the custody of his parents, but they rejected him because of his arrest.

The boy was then taken to a place of safety in Polokwane.

The case will be heard later this month.

    - Rapport
