Suicide man 'just divorced'

Bloemfontein - The badly-mutilated body of a 47-year-old man from Virginia in the Free State was found after he apparently committed suicide by blowing himself up with commercial explosives on the lawn of the house he shared with his son and daughter-in-law.
The man, whose name was not yet known, got divorced three months ago.
Spokesperson Malebo Khosana, said the man was alone at home on Sunday at 12:40, in the house he shared with his son and daughter-in-law.
The man called his mother and said he was going to commit suicide. He then went outside, lay down on the grass with the explosives tied to his body. He attached the fuse to a battery and let it explode.
His whole upper body was blown apart.
His mother called the man's son but by the time he arrived at the house, his father had already died.
A suicide note was found on the scene.
Police are investigating how the man managed to get hold of the explosives, which may have come from a mine.
