Johannesburg - Five men have been arrested for allegedly hijacking a furniture delivery truck in Mamelodi, Pretoria police said on Thursday.
Inspector Paul Ramaloko said one man was arrested on Wednesday and four others on Monday.
"It all started last Friday when a delivery truck transporting furniture in Mamelodi was hijacked by four men," said Ramaloko.
"They later abandoned the truck and it was recovered, empty, the same day."
The men were arrested on Monday and information received from the four led to the discovery on Wednesday of the stolen furniture at a house in Mamelodi.
Plasma television sets, fridges and washing machines were found.
"The owner of the house was arrested and all the furniture recovered," said Ramaloko.
The men had been charged for hijacking and theft and would appear in the Mamelodi magistrate's court soon.
