Tzaneen - Five children died in a fire in their shack at Nyagelani-Shihoko village near Tzaneen in Limpopo, SABC news reported on Sunday.

A woman - the mother of one of the children - apparently locked them in the shack before she went away on Saturday night.

She was believed to have returned on Sunday morning to find the shack burnt down.

Two siblings of her child and two visitors were believed to have died in the fire.

The names and ages of the children have not been released yet and the cause of the fire is not known.
