Komatipoort - A trainee sangoma hanged herself with a red rope from a tree in the veld.

The 44-year-old woman lived in KaMhluswhwa, south of Komatipoort in Mpumalanga, but had gone to Steenbok to become a sangoma, said Tonga police spokesperson Constable Mzwandile Nyambi spokesperson.

She hanged herself in the early hours of Sunday morning and was found by people going to collect some wood.

Nyambi said it was not yet known why the woman would kill herself.
