  • Johannesburg - Two men posing as traffic officers hijacked a truck transporting jam worth about R1.4m, said Free State police on Tuesday.

Constable Mmako Mophiring said the truck was heading to Durban when it was hijacked about 17:00 on Monday.

The 42-year-old driver was near the Senekal weighbridge when he was stopped by a white Toyota Corolla with a blue light on its roof.

The truck driver was told to produce his driver's licence and then one of the robbers got into the truck and held him at gunpoint.

The man was dropped off in the veld while the robbers made off with the truck containing the jam, said Mophiring.

The truck driver reported the hijacking at Heilbron police station.

A case of armed robbery would be investigated.
