Johannesburg - Seven men were arrested on Sunday morning for speeding on the N3 highway near the Geldenhuis interchange, Ekurhuleni metro police said.
All the drivers were caught at speeds exceeding 185km/h, said Inspector Jimmy Maboko.
Three BMW drivers were trapped doing speeds ranging from 189km/h to 199km/h. The driver of an Audi was travelling at 200km/h.
One of the drivers apparently told police that he did not know what speed he was travelling at when he was caught.
The other said he was missing his girlfriend and was speeding because he wanted to see her.
Maboko said police staked out the highway from midnight to 06:00.
All the drivers were offered bail of R1 000 and will appear at the Germiston Magistrate's court on Monday.
