Motorist killed in hijacking

Johannesburg - A 45-year-old man was shot and killed in a suspected attempted hijacking on Turnhout Street in Primrose, East Rand police said on Thursday.
Ignituis Bestrobolios of Bruma Lake, Johannesburg, was in his Nissan bakkie chatting with a friend he had visited around 21:00 on Wednesday, said superintendent Andy Pieke.
"A man appeared from nowhere waving a firearm.
"He ordered Bestrobolios' friend to lie flat on the floor."
A few seconds later, the friend heard a gunshot.
"He told the police the attacker had fled after firing the shot," said Pieke.
Bestrobolios had been shot and died instantly.
Nothing was stolen from him.
