2 die in Midrand shooting

Johannesburg - Two people were killed and three others wounded in a shooting in Midrand, North Rand police said on Friday.
Superintendent Eugene Opperman said a 45-year-old man allegedly shot his 35-year-old wife at their flat in Noordwyk at about 03:00 on Friday morning.
"She died at scene," said Opperman.
Shortly after the shooting paramedics, firefighters and police arrived at the scene.
"A shootout allegedly ensued between the 45-year-old and police," Opperman said.
A firefighter and a paramedic were each shot in the leg while a security guard was seriously injured when he was shot in the stomach.
"The man then went back into the flat and shot himself in the head, he died at the scene," Opperman said.
The reason for the shooting wasn't known.
