Johannesburg - City Press editor Mathata Tsedu and his family are devastated by the murder of his son.
Avhatakali Netshisaulu's body was found burnt beyond recognition in the boot of his car in an open field in Nooitgedagt near Muldersdrift, west of Johannesburg, SABC news reported on Friday.
Tsedu said his family was finding it difficult to accept Netshisaulu's death. He also said his death was also a loss to the nation.
"Avhatakali was a gifted child, that we should as a nation lose someone like him this way is very painful to accept."
Apparently he had been driving to Honeydew to meet someone around 20:00 on Thursday.
The 31-year-old chartered accountant had phoned his wife telling her that he thought he was being hijacked.
He said he was being sandwiched by two cars, one of which had no number plate.
His wife called the police but to no avail. She later searched the area with a family member.
She found fire-fighters trying to extinguish the flames from her husband's car.
